ProKarton Foundation became a member of the Polish Circular Hotspot

The ProKarton Foundation is engaged in the popularization of knowledge about beverage cartons as functional and minimizing the environmental impact of packaging, which is part of the Circular Economy.

In Circular Economy, the interaction at different stages of the life cycle must be taken into account. Beverage cartons are lightweight - they are made of approximately 75% paper and, thanks to special technology, in most cases they do not require cooling before opening. This saves significant amounts of energy. The rectangular shape saves space in transport, and its characteristics protect the products from external factors. The proper management of used beverage cartons, i.e. collecting them together with plastics and metal, allows the recovery of valuable secondary raw materials needed for production. All these elements show how well beverage cartons fit in with the Circular Economy idea. Joining the Polish Circular Hotspot is a huge potential for the Circular Economy activities, both with our business partners and with consumers - says Ɓukasz Sosnowski - President of ProKarton Foundation.

The cornerstone of the Circular Economy is cooperation. In order to transform from a linear economy model into a closed-loop economy model it is necessary to involve numerous entities. To accomplish this, steps should be taken to ensure dialogue, cooperation between different stakeholders, in order to promote more widespread use of circular economy solutions. An example of such a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practices is the Polish Circular Hotspot. We are very glad that the ProKarton Foundation joined PCH. We hope that it will be a long and fruitful cooperation - says dr Agnieszka Sznyk - President of the Institute of Innovation and Responsible Development.
